BJP WRESTS ODISHA, DETHRONES NAVEEN

In a historic upset, the 24-year-long tenure of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is set to come to an end, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) poised to form the government with a narrow majority in the eastern State.

The BJP won 78 seats in the 147-member State Assembly, which has the halfway mark for forming the government at 74.

Mr. Patnaik’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) managed to get 51 seats, followed by the Congress which won 14 seats.
