KEEP YOUR SKIN HEALTHY DURING THE FESTIVE SEASON

Anagha Sawant

With festivities in full swing, we tend to wear makeup more frequently. Experts warn that one of the most common mistakes is leaving your makeup on overnight. This can lead to clogged pores, irritated skin, and even eye allergies. To keep that festive glow intact, staying on top of your skincare regime is an absolute must!

BALANCING FESTIVE DIET

Creating a healthy balance in your festive diet is crucial to achieve radiant skin. “While planning your meals, include healthy alternatives such as salads, fruits, and bajra and jowar instead of refined flour (maida),” explains Dr Veena Pai, a dietitian.

Experts also state that excessive sugar intake can hamper skin health. “Instead of eating heavy meals, practice portion control. This can help restrict cravings for unhealthy foods thereby reducing chances of overeating,” adds Dr Pai.

"During festivities, staying up late, heavy makeup, and intake of oily foods can stress your skin. Sticking to your routine helps combat these effects, keeping the skin hydrated and free from dirt and bacteria ensuring a clearer complexion."

Common skincare mistakes to avoid

- Skipping a skincare regimen can lead to breakouts and dullness.- Sleeping with makeup on can cause irritation and clog pores.

- Ignoring hydration can dehydrate the skin.- Regularly moisturize your skin.

- Indulging in oily, sugary unhealthy foods.

"Your diet directly affects your skin health. Fatty or fried foods like puri, pakoda, or samosa can cause inflammation and hormonal changes, leading to excess oil production, clogged pores, acne, breakouts, and leaving the skin stressed."

-Dr Surabhi Deshpande, dermatologist*
